How Democrats Stole the Nation’s Lower Federal Courts

22nd July 2017

Read it.

The Democrats, and Sen. Chuck Schumer in particular, have engaged in an outrageous set of practices from 1993 to 2017 that have allowed them to steal huge majorities on all the federal circuit courts of appeals. This story needs telling because Senate Republicans, while performing very admirably in replacing Justice Scalia with Justice Gorsuch, have had their pockets picked with the courts of appeals.

Chuck Shumer is a Nazi’s dream — he’s a walking example of every anti-semite’s caricature of a slimy evil Jew.

The Three Greatest Programming Links Ever

22nd July 2017

Freeberg nails it again.

The job is to define behavior. That is the job. This means, as some wizened sages have observed, there is a necessity for those new to it to “change the way you think.” That’s true, because the job involves defining something, and until the necessity arises a lot of us don’t have to define much of anything at all. You see this in babies. If they get what they want by just making illegible noises, that’s what they are going to learn how to do. If they’re forced to articulate exactly what it is they want, and until then they don’t get it, they become more skilled in their vocal expression. That is learning to define. This stuff we call “code” is merely the medium through which definition is done. Most debates about programming languages are counterproductive, and most programming languages hurt the industry as a whole, because by adding themselves to the growing collection of languages they do injury against the progress of defining. Just like with the spoken word, changing the language in which an idea is expressed doesn’t do anything to improve the idea. Do you really need to switch? The code you’ve written already is an asset; it is the only product in existence, after your investment of time. “How many lines is your code” is a metric that might offer a clue about this, although not a decisive one. “Is it easy to read?” is a consideration, in the sense that a programmer familiar with it shouldn’t be given a reliable first impression that is the direct opposite of what it really does. As the language evolves, it should maintain backward compatibility as it does so, so that the code written already is treated like an asset. Which is what it is. So, there should be assurances to this effect. Guarantees are better than assurances. I suppose a parchment document signed in blood would be better than a guarantee. Regardless, the best definition of a “wrong language” being used is, oopsie, this compiler or interpreter is now on rev X which doesn’t support programming construct Y anymore, so you need to go demolish/reassemble. Yeah. While you’re doing that, switch languages because that was the wrong one. Then nuke it from orbit.

More Multiculti Merriment in Minneapolis

22nd July 2017

Steve Sailer follows all of this so that you don’t have to.

Mayor of Minneapolis fires white (and Canadian Amerindian) lesbian police chief after Somali diversity hire shoots yoga lady, replaces her with black guy with inscrutable name Medaria Arradondo (huh? What happened to Minnesotans named Svenson? Have I been lied to by Prairie Home Companion all these years?), African American hecklers get in mayor’s face, drive her from conference room.

The whole point of Prairie Home Companion was anthropology — an attempt by a born-in-Flyover-Country-but-left-as-soon-as-I-could would-be Left Coaster to explain these strange native tribes from the undiscovered country of the Midwest to the Real People of the Coast. The upper Midwest (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan), perhaps tainted by its proximity to Canada, has long been a cornerstone of Commie America.

Tribes Are Just Big Families. Yup, That Bad.

21st July 2017

Read it.

Somehow, I’m betting that most of you fled from the bosom of your families in order to go live out in the big cold atomized impersonal individualistic world, and you’re not exactly champing at the bit to go back.

Because there are costs, and they are crushing.  Families do not understand, cannot understand, personal boundaries.  The counterbalance to “your family will always care about you” is “your family will feel free to use and remake every part of your existence.”  Families are places where every point of incompatibility or tension will be rubbed raw until it bleeds and festers, because people can’t just agree to leave each other alone.  Families subordinate your dreams to their own collective ambitions and values.  Families run Every. Single. Thing. through a system of manipulative personal politics.

Different people have different levels of tolerance for such things, and so the individualism / tribalism tradeoff plays out differently in every case.

I have very little. Most of my relatives are people with whom I would not voluntarily associate.

Climate-change Fearmongering Has Turned Totally Unhinged

21st July 2017

Jonah Goldberg turns over a rock.

One of the hallmarks of the “Ugly American” is the habit of thinking foreigners will understand what you’re saying if you just shout it louder and louder.

The Ugly Environmentalist does something similar. He exaggerates the challenge of global warming by using ever more hysterical rhetoric, thinking that if the last doomsday prediction didn’t work, this one will.

Women and minorities hardest hit, of course.

Brawn in an Age of Brains

21st July 2017

Victor Davis Hanson points out some anomalies.

Those who would never stoop to paint their own houses gladly expend far more energy sweating at the gym. During the decline in physical-labor jobs over the last 50 years, an entire compensating industry has grown up around physical fitness. As modern work becomes less physical, requiring hours at a desk or some sort of immobile standing, the fitness center has replaced the drudgery of the field, the mine, and the forest as a means to exercise the body each day. A forbidding array of exercise bikes and StairMasters not only works the body; it also reinforces the modern, scientifically backed conviction that physical fitness promotes general wellness, mental acuity, and perhaps longevity. A new slang has entered the Western vocabulary, from “abs,” “glutes,” and “cardio” to “ripped” and “toned” to describe the ideal results of daily exercise: a look of chiseled fitness. The ideal is much different from the appearance of the pipe fitter and welder of the past, whose protruding bellies and girth were not necessarily incongruous with physical strength and stamina incurred from daily physical labor.

Me, I’m ‘sedentary’ and proud of it.

Yet talk long enough to the most accomplished academics, lawyers, and CEOs—who also tend to be the most conscientious about biking, jogging, and weightlifting (obesity is mostly an epidemic of the poor and lower middle classes)—and more often than not, they will brag about a long-ago college summer job waiting tables or an internship repairing hiking trails. They might praise the granite-counter installer who redid their kitchen, or offer an anecdote about the time they helped the tree-trimmer haul limbs from the backyard out to the trailer at the curb. There seems a human instinct to want to do physical work. We moderns want to be able to say that we have some residual firsthand familiarity with drudgery—or at least share our admiration for muscular labor when one sees the positive results of physical craftsmanship, or even the smallest physical alteration of the natural environment.

An Immigration Horror Story

21st July 2017

Read it.

Now, the $47-billion agriculture industry is trying to bring technological innovation up to warp speed before it runs out of low-wage immigrant workers.

California will have to remake its fields like it did its factories, with more machines and better-educated workers to labor beside them, or risk losing entire crops, economists say.

Without the ability to empeonage (if that’s a word) illegal immigrants, they can’t make a buck.

Well, they could always bring back slavery … Democrats were always big on that.

“We don’t see — no matter what happens — that the labor problem will be solved,” said Soren Bjorn, president of Driscoll’s of the Americas.

That’s because immigrant farmworkers in California’s agricultural heartlands are getting older and not being replaced. After decades of crackdowns, the net flow across the U.S.-Mexico border reversed in 2005, a trend that accelerated through 2014, according to a Pew Research Center study. And native-born Americans aren’t interested in the job, even at wages that have soared at higher than average rates.

Apparently raising wages to a free-market level is not an option, because then they’d have to raise prices.

Stated bluntly, there aren’t enough new immigrants for the state’s nearly half-million farm labor jobs — especially as Mexico creates competing manufacturing jobs in its own cities, Taylor said. He has calculated that the pool of potential immigrants from rural Mexico shrinks every year by about 150,000 people.

How dare those greasers offer their own people good wages! Don’t they know who California growers ARE?

Growers who can afford it have begun offering savings and health plans more commonly found in white collar jobs. And they’re increasingly turning to foreign guest workers, recruiting 11,000 last year, which is a fivefold jump in just five years, The Times found.

The horror! And all of this without a Union in sight!

Bring Back Imperialism!

21st July 2017

Severian has a plan.

You can read every academic study written on the British Empire in the last 60 years, but all of them together don’t contain as much wisdom as this.  Guys whose blood wasn’t blue enough to be aristocrats, but who weren’t vulgar enough (in their own eyes) to buy their way in through success in business, went out to the Empire to live in the style to which they were sure they were entitled.

Every nasty thing everyone, Orwell included, ever said about the Empire and the men who ran it, is true.  The whole thing was a racket, and those who thought it wasn’t were either too stupid, too jingoistic, or both — if there’s really a difference — to see it.  (The smart, cynical ones would admit as much, and frequently did, off the record and with a few gin and tonics under their hoods).  But these are the men who created the richest, freest, most prosperous society anyone had ever known — especially the people over whom they ruled.

There’s a lot of discussion about the upcoming show Confederate, with most commenters on the right smelling it as a propaganda piece devoted to showing how little this country has improved over the Nasty Slave Place that it used to be, women and minorities hardest hit, etc. etc. Indeed, the way the world works these days, it would seem impossible for anybody to get the funding and approval for such a show unless it was designed to shore up the DemLegHump Media Narrative.

I have a dream … of a show that points out the undeniable fact that, horrible as slavery was in every sense, the people who lived under slavery still had it better than they would have back in Darkest Africa. (The proof of that is that few of them, and none of their descendants, showed any inclination whatever to go back there, in marked contrast to the European ethnic groups who came over voluntarily.) There’s an Inconvenient Truth for you.

It’s All the Romans’ Fault

21st July 2017

Read it.

I found this discussion of individualism and tribalism very interesting.

Obviously, this whole individualism thing has both a lot of sources and a lot of ramifications.  But an absolutely central part of it, something without which it cannot survive or cohere, is economic individualism: the idea that an individual person can own property in his own right, with full and complete title to it, including the right to alienate (sell) it as he pleases.  Without that, well, people can’t really act as free individual agents unless they’re prepared to give up all their resources, because all their resources are at least partly controlled by someone else.

The main alternative to individualism is the tribe.  Within a tribal system, an individual basically isn’t a meaningful social unit, he is a component of his kinship group.  The tribe owns all the property, and you can’t sell it off, because everyone in the tribe (including all those yet to be born) have a claim on it.  You have duties to the tribe, and those duties define your life, even if maybe you personally would rather do something else.  You are bound to work, and marry, in a way that advances the tribe’s interests.  If you have wealth or power, it is incumbent on you to use it in a way that advances the tribe’s interests.  You get the idea.

This tribe thing is the default social setup for humans.  It dominated most of the great premodern civilizations.  In India, pretty much all of society was built around kinship groups (jatis).  In the Arab world, tribal ties were always paramount – so much so that basically every successful Arab empire had to use slaves to run the government and the military, just on the grounds that foreigners without families wouldn’t funnel all the empire’s resources to their tribes.  The situation in China was a little different, since the kinship groups got kicked in the teeth early by Qin Shi Huangdi’s massive centralized bureaucratic state, but they were always there and always fighting to hang onto what power they could.  Etc.

The Case for Free-Market Anticapitalism

The problem, of course, is the term ‘capitalism’, which is a dysphemism coined by Marx in order to have a handy stick with which to beat his opponents. It joins similar pro-statist terms like ‘price gouging’ and ‘black market’ and ‘profiteering’ in the arsenal of those who oppose free choice between economic actors.

Crazy Is a Pre-Existing Condition

21st July 2017

The Other McCain keeps track so that you don’t have to.

Young people are becoming seriously confused by the transgender cult. Or perhaps the causation works the other way, and confused young people are magnetically attracted to the cult belief that, with the “treatment” of synthetic hormones and surgery, they can escape their adolescent woes by “transitioning” into the opposite sex. Feminists have identified the factor of social contagion in what they call “rapid-onset gender dysphoria.” Through the influence of peers, and also through online recruitment by transgender cultists, many teenagers are quite suddenly convinced that they were “born in the wrong body.” In a matter of months or even a few weeks, an otherwise healthy teenage will develop an obsession with “gender transition” and demand that parents not only accept their new transgender identity, but often threaten suicide unless parents support them in seeking hormone “treatment” immediately. This kind of emotional blackmail is part of the transgender cult’s ideology, as activists claim that anyone who opposes them is effectively sentencing teenagers to death by denying them acceptance and “health care.”

Your hardware determines what sex you are. If your brain disagrees, that’s a software problem, not a hardware problem.

Trying to fix a software problem by radically changing the hardware to match the software is ass-backwards.

US Postal Service Breaks Election Laws To Support Hillary, Media Silent

20th July 2017

Read it.

The big three networks ignored a report Wednesday uncovering violations of federal law committed by the U.S. Postal Service, which pressured managers to approve time off for employees to campaign for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other Democrats.

“High-level postal officials had for years granted employees’ requests for unpaid leave, leading last year to an ‘institutional bias’ in favor of Clinton and other Democrats endorsed by the National Association of Letter Carriers, one of the largest postal unions” amounting to a violation of the Hatch Act, reports The Washington Post.

The Hatch Act is a law enacted in 1939 to prevent federal employees from supporting candidates. Investigators concluded that the postal service had been involved in the process since the 1990s.

Gay Leather Bar Owner Runs for Governor in Texas

20th July 2017

Read it.

After Abortion Barbie, there was nowhere else to go….

Jeffrey Payne, who won the title of International Mr Leather in 2009, hopes to challenge the state’s current Republican governor, Greg Abbott, who announced his bid for reelection last week.

Sounds like the perfect Democrat candidate.

“Texas needs a Governor who believes in Real Texas Values, like integrity, honesty, freedom and independence,” Mr Payne said.

In other words, not a Democrat.

“We need to stop wasting our time and money on trivial legislation and start investing in finding ways to help Texans, their families, and their businesses prosper.”

At taxpayer expense, no doubt.

In an interview with CBS Dallas, Mr Payne said he does not think Texas voters will focus on his same-sex marriage – or, presumably, on his connections to the BDSM-tinged gay leather community.

Stairway to Bureaucracy

20th July 2017

Read it.

A Toronto man who spent $550 building a set of stairs in his community park says he has no regrets, despite the city’s insistence that he should have waited for a $65,000 city project to handle the problem. The city is now threatening to tear down the stairs because they were not built to regulation standards.

Bureaucrats get snippy when you show them up.

Retired mechanic Adi Astl says he took it upon himself to build the stairs after several neighbours fell down the steep path to a community garden in Tom Riley Park, in Etobicoke, Ont. Astl says his neighbours chipped in on the project, which only ended up costing $550 – a far cry from the $65,000-$150,000 price tag the city had estimated for the job.

Think of all the cronyism he spoiled, the swine.

Astl says he hired a homeless person to help him and built the eight steps in a matter of hours.

Surely he didn’t have a permit for that? And liability insurance? Did he withhold taxes properly?

City bylaw officers have taped off the stairs while officials make a decision on what to do with it. However, Astl has not been charged with any sort of violation.

Hang in there, it’s early days yet.

“I think everyone will understand that it will be more than $550,” he said on Wednesday. “We just can’t have people decide to go out to Home Depot and build a staircase in a park because that’s what they would like to have.”

Geez, next thing you know this place will turn into a democracy. Can’t have that, not in Modern Socialist Canada.

Members of African Robotics Team Go Missing, Two Seen Crossing Canadian Border

20th July 2017

All six members of the teenage Bundi robotics team were reported missing Tuesday, after they were last seen at during a competition at Constitution Hall, reports Fox 5 DC.

Two of them, 16-year-old Don Ingabire and 17-year-old Audrey Mwamikazi, were seen trying to get in to Canada, D.C. police said. The other four, 18-year-old Richard Irakoze, 17-year-old Kevin Sabumukiza, 17-year-old Nice Munezero and 18-year-old Aristide Irambona, have yet to be sighted.

Gee, I wonder why.

The African teens had traveled to America to participate in a robotics competition hosted by FIRST Global. The competition draws young adults around the world and encourages them to pursue math and science fields.

The Mother of All Disruptions

Warning: don’t read too much about the future of jobs in an era of Artificial Intelligence if you are—psychologically speaking—in a dark place. If you’re a lover of the arts and humanities, for example, you should probably go full hermit in the basement of a university library with plenty of provisions (but no WiFi). If you greet all technological advances with gee-whiz enthusiasm, you’d best avoid long conversations with people who make a living driving trucks or reading X-rays. If you’re an antiglobalization protectionist, get ready to look with longing on a time when the biggest threats to jobs were NAFTA and an ascendant China. And even if you believe in the long-term benefits of what economist Joseph Schumpeter called creative destruction—as I do—prepare to have your convictions tested.

Low-Income Americans Wage Growth Outpacing High-Income Salaries

The last time the lowest end of the pay scale outpaced other groups was in 2010.

… but, of course, there aren’t, because sometime in the later 19th century our universities started awarding degrees in English Literature.  You’ve got to justify all those years in grad school somehow, and so by the 1950s you had J. Evans Pritchard, PhD, laying down mathematical formulae for judging a poem’s excellence.  And now only Diversity Pokemon write poetry.  Seriously, can you even name a 20th century poet, let alone quote him?

Well, T. S. Elliot, but nothing since 1960, since that’s when the rot set in. (No, Maya Angelou is not a poet; she is a Poetry Affirmative Action Hire.)

Profs Fear White Supremacists Are Infiltrating Medieval Studies

20th July 2017

Read it.

Oh noes!

Academics are now finding white supremacy under the medieval studies bed. As Campus Reform reports, some professors of the period fear that the forces of the “alt-right” are using using this storied age to advance a dangerous “white supremacist fantasy.”

Vassar College professor Dorothy Kim issued this dire warning to The Chronicle of Higher Education last Sunday: “It should be a really, really important time to reflect on why are these things going on and what we can do to combat that. The worry I would have is that, is the field going to be forever linked to white supremacy?”

The worry that I have is, is this going to be another field that surrenders respect for reality to pursue a Leftist political agenda?

Tax-Funded Anti-Poverty Groups Pay Their CEOs Huge Salaries

Foolish mortal. Anti-poverty groups aren’t about ending poverty, but about providing cushy non-demanding jobs for Crustians and their offspring, much like an intrusive government agency.

The Slavery Paper

20th July 2017

Severian waxes philosophical.

You may not know that our educational system has its roots in Prussia.  So, as you might expect, it’s designed to crank out little automatons, who can be good soldiers or good factory hands as needed.  That system prevailed in America until the 1970s, when the first wave of hippies started having kids and decided to “educate” them using the theories of John Dewey.  Dewey’s method was the Prussian’s opposite —  free play, cooperatvie learning, and all the other stuff that was called “self-esteem” back in the 70s.

But eventually all but the most bong-addled hippies realized that the Prussian method produced kids who could actually get and hold jobs… but, being hippies, they couldn’t give up on, like, feeeelings, maaaan, so by the late 80s we had more or less the current system, which is the worst of both worlds — the industrial production of Special Snowflakes.  Nobody’s different from anybody and everyone’s the best at everything.  It’s a pedagogical nightmare.  How does one simultaneously encourage each of 300 kids to develop his own special uniqueness, while training him to ace the standardized test?

Nobody has yet figured out the “ace the test” part (which is why every year brings some massive cheating scandal in a public school district), but we’ve nailed the “develop his special uniqueness” part — put Social Justice platitudes on the standardized test.  You know you’re a brave, free-thinking iconoclastic nonconformist when you have the exact same opinions as every other brave, free-thinking iconoclastic nonconformist.  By the time I get them, then, these kids are past masters at SocJus mad-libbing an essay prompt.  You could pose a question about the economic development of Singapore, seen through the lens of Medieval Finnish Poetry, and you’d still get something about the plight of underrepresented minorities and the horrors of homophobia.

Which brings us to The Slavery Paper.  Nonblack students are at least expected to exercise a little ingenuity in coming up with their SocJus mad-libs.  Blacks, by contrast, only ever write papers about Blackness.  And since it’s impossible to fail the Blacks and keep your job, anyone who teaches Intro to Anything gets a million Slavery Papers every single goddamn semester, to the point where we can all recite it, chapter and verse, from memory.

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush Again …

19th July 2017

Steve Sailer turns over a rock.

Millions of dollars will soon be spent in Richmond to help increase the number of African-Americans homeowners. A newly announced partnership between Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia, Inc. (HOME) and Wells Fargo will provide $4 million to help close the racial home ownership gap.

Some things I discovered back in 2008:

– There are a gigantic number of these type of “fair housing” NGOs across the country. One national association of them had over 600 organizations as members.

– A lot of these NGOs fighting white racism in mortgage lending are run by white people like Ms. Crislip.

– A $4 million payoff is a lot to an NGO, but is a minor cost of doing business to one of the Four Big Banks like Wells Fargo. The mortgage market is so big that the word “trillions” comes up: for example, in January 2005, Countrywide Financial launched the metastasization of the Housing Bubble when Angelo Mozillo, having attained agreement from Fannie Mae to buy his dubious mortgages, announced his plan to lend One … Trillion … Dollars to minority and lower income borrowers by 2010.

– The Obama Administration had lots of schemes to rake off mortgage money to its allies in these kind of NGOs that search out examples of disparate impact and trumpet them until they get paid off.

Green Cronyism Gone Wild: It Looks Like the State of California Is Bailing Out Tesla

19th July 2017

Read it.

Tesla will soon hit the limit of the federal tax rebates, which are good for the first 200,000 EVs sold in the US per manufacturer beginning in December 2009 (IRS explanation). In the second quarter after the manufacturer hits the limit, the subsidy gets cut in half, from $7,500 to $3,750; two quarters later, it gets cut to $1,875. Two quarters later, it goes to zero.

Given Tesla’s ambitious US sales forecast for its Model 3, it will hit the 200,000 vehicle limit in 2018, after which the phase-out begins. A year later, the subsidies are gone. Losing a $7,500 subsidy on a $35,000 car is a huge deal. No other EV manufacturer is anywhere near their 200,000 limit. Their customers are going to benefit from the subsidy; Tesla buyers won’t.

This could crush Tesla sales. Many car buyers are sensitive to these subsidies. For example, after Hong Kong rescinded a tax break for EVs effective in April, Tesla sales in April dropped to zero. The good people of Hong Kong will likely start buying Teslas again, but it shows that subsidies have a devastating impact when they’re pulled.

That’s what Tesla is facing next year in the US.

In California, the largest EV market in the US, 2.7% of new vehicles sold in the first quarter were EVs, up from 0.4% in 2012, according to the California New Dealers Association. California is Tesla’s largest market. Something big needs to be done to help the Bay Area company, which has lost money every single year of its ten years of existence. And taxpayers are going to be shanghaied into doing it.

Are We Seeing the Sparks of a Holy War in Jerusalem?

19th July 2017

Read it.

Oh, say it ain’t so.

The faithful leaving Jerusalem’s al Aqsa mosque yesterday evening were thrilled for the after-party. Marching on and around Temple Mount, they chanted cheerful slogans like “We will sacrifice our lives for al-Aqsa,” “We will die as martyrs,” “There’s going to be another Intifadah,” and “There’s nothing like killing soldiers.” More than a few were throwing rocks and glass bottles at the Israeli police officers stationed nearby. Among the rioters was Ekrima Sa’id Sabri, the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, a popular preacher in al Aqsa, and a Holocaust denier who energized the crowd with talk of holy war.

To what do we owe this pleasure? To hear the mob tell it, the violence was a legitimate expression of outrage sparked by Israel’s decision to install metal detectors at the entrance to the holy site. And Israel, you may recall, installed metal detectors at the entrance to the holy site after three Palestinian terrorists opened fire there Friday morning, killing two Israeli police officers who happened to be Druze. As David Horovitz put it crudely but poignantly, “Arabs killed Arabs at a holy place, the Jews are trying to ensure that it doesn’t happen again, and the Arab world is furious with the Jews about it.”

Shock, Dismay In Academia At Scorpion Acting Like Scorpion

19th July 2017

Read it.

There are many very stupid ideas about free speech in academia. Perhaps the stupidest is this: free speech is a legal norm used to protect the powerful at the expense of the powerless, but exceptions to free speech will benefit the powerless. Nobody with a passing knowledge of the history of free speech takes this seriously.

Jonathan Kay on the Tyranny of Twitter: How Mob Censure Is Changing the Intellectual Landscape

19th July 2017

Read it.

… for certain rather expansive definitions of ‘intellectual’.

In a 1945 essay, Notes on Nationalism, George Orwell described a rumour among leftists that the real reason American troops had been brought to Europe was to suppress English communism, not fight the Nazis.

“One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that,” Orwell famously noted. “No ordinary man could be such a fool.” Even by Orwell’s high standards, those words have aged extremely well. Tell an ordinary Canadian schlub that white people aren’t allowed to quote Beyoncé, and he will be smart enough to laugh in your face. Dress down a superbly intelligent Peace and Conflict Studies PhD candidate for the same act, and she will fall over herself with apologies.

Just as Muslim terrorists tend to kill more Muslims than non-Muslims, PC ThoughtCrime mobs tend to attack their own co-delusionists more often than their opposition.

The Zeroth Amendment

19th July 2017

Steve Sailer boils it down.

A little-known survey revealed the single most decisive reason Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton: White Democrats have drifted into ideological extremism over not regulating immigration.

By way of background, a general problem in political science with using polls to track ideological trends over the years is that you want to keep asking the same questions to see how voters’ responses evolve. But that means that pollsters seldom ask about new beliefs that would have seemed bizarre even in the recent past.

In turn, pundits, lacking polling data to write about, don’t even mention historic developments, such as the rise of mainstream antiwhite American hate discourse over the past half decade. For most mainstream journalists to notice their own increasingly vicious racist attitudes would be like a fish noticing it is wet.

Strange Obsessions

19th July 2017

Kevin Williamson says you can’t make this stuff up.

Texas politics is in the midst of a kind of double civil war. The Democrats have not yet figured out that being the party of little old liberal white ladies with a fanatical dedication to defending the abortion license is a thing of the past for a party whose future is younger and browner than its present. The Democrats are torn between being the party of Elizabeth Warren and the party of the guy who cuts her grass, and it is inevitable that the people who provide the Democrats with their votes and manpower are going to eventually start asking why it is that their policy agenda, which is economically focused, is being held hostage to the excretory and sexual obsessions of a relatively tiny cabal of Wellesley graduates and puffed-up assistant vice principals.
