Do People Undestand War Anymore?

13th April 2024

The New Neo.

The situation has the unintended effect of allowing terrorists to win wars by their tactic of putting civilians in harms’ way. The Palestinians’ entire war strategy rests on this, and most of the West cooperates. Thus, the unrealistic expectations held by so many modern Westerners about war end up enabling evil to flourish.

There Is Worse Than Hitler

11th April 2024

ZMan is fed up.

If you have paid any attention to British politics, you will note that what passes for the political right in Britain is more feckless and ridiculous than what passes for the political right in the United States. It is one of those things that should be impossible, but once you look at the recent string of Prime Ministers, you have to accept it is reality, which means things will inevitably get worse in America. No matter how much you hate the Republicans, you will have reason to hate them more.

The Tories are facing what many predict could be a party ending election this year, as current polling has them winning just a handful of seats. The Tories currently have a 35% approval number, an all-time low. As a result, there is a movement afoot to wipe out the party entirely. The “zero seats” campaign started as a joke but as is often the case, this joke could turn out to be reality. Italy’s Five Star movement started as a gag and eventually overturned the political establishment.

The Dumbphone Boom Is Real

11th April 2024

The New Yorker.

BLUF:

  • They were spending too much time on their phones and, like children, didn’t have the willpower to cut it down or cut it out.
  • They couldn’t get what they considered to be an adequate amount of information on ‘dumb phones’.
  • They decided to start a side hustle supplying ‘dumb phones’ and information to people similarly situated.

You can read the whole article if you like–The New Yorker has good writing if it has nothing else–but the whole situation is merely further confirmation of the mental neoteny that pervades modern American society.

On the other hand, their pivot to entrepreneurship is encouraging. Apparently the American spirit is not dead, merely deeply hidden; it will arise when conditions warrant.

‘Civil War’: How Military Veterans Brought Real-Life Combat to the Big Screen

11th April 2024

Read it.

You would be forgiven for thinking that “Civil War” was a movie about the bloodiest U.S. conflict dating back to the late 19th century. Instead, it’s a prescient look at a fictional, fractured, near-future America.

Directed by Alex Garland (“Ex Machina”) and produced by independent entertainment company A24, the film opens with an unnamed president (Nick Offerman) practicing a self-assured speech about the strength and unity of the United States juxtaposed against scenes of chaos, violence and destruction erupting across the country.

Meanwhile, veteran Reuters journalist Lee (Kirsten Dunst) sits in a New York City hotel room as an explosion erupts outside her window. Her team, which consists of alcoholic thrill-seeker Joel (Wagner Moura), her elderly mentor Sammy (Stephen McKinley Henderson) and a stowaway newcomer Jessie (Cailee Spaeny), plans to make the treacherous drive from Manhattan to Washington, D.C., to try to confront the president, who has held three terms in office but nary a press conference.

Play Boomer Politics, Get Zero Seats

11th April 2024

Read it.

A meme has taken hold in the online right ahead of this year’s UK general election: Zero Seats. It is both a wish and a promise: to repay the Conservative party for 14 years of betraying the British public. Although the Tories look to retain some true-blue constituencies, they are forecast to suffer their worst election in a century. But Zero Seats is more than a call to desolate the Conservative party electorally, as they have Britain culturally, economically, and demographically. Refusing to vote for the Conservative party in its current form is an ambition to lift the post-war paradigm that lies like a dead hand upon national politics.

The Futile War Against School Choice

10th April 2024

Read it.

Last week, the Oklahoma Supreme Court heard arguments between the Oklahoma Statewide Virtual Charter School Board and the Oklahoma Parent Legislative Advocacy Coalition (OKPLAC).

On one side, the school board defended its decision to include St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School in their network and fund it like any other public charter school. As a charter, the school operates independently of public school systems and is funded based on its enrollment. Lawyers defending St. Isidore claim it’s simply an option for families who desire that kind of education: “They’re a Catholic school, but they welcome everyone. Nobody is required to go to St. Isidore. That’s very important. It’s an option among many.”

On the other side, the lawyers for OKPLAC argued that this was mixing church and state and could result in “discriminatory practices, such as students being treated differently for their religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability—as well as not providing adequate services for students with disabilities.” Essentially, by funding St. Isidore, the state was funding Catholic bigotry.

Amazon Labor Union Bleeds Money as Workers Turn on Founder Who Praised Hamas

10th April 2024

Read it.

The Amazon Labor Union burst onto the scene in 2021 with support from leading progressives and an endorsement from President Joe Biden. But the group could soon lose that prime placement as it grapples with financial troubles and controversy surrounding its founder.

The union had just $28,354 cash on hand at the end of last year, down from $95,437 in 2022, according to its latest filing with the Department of Labor. The union began 2023 with $118,463 in net assets, but ended up deeply in debt, with negative $48,006 in net assets. It has $43,581 in bills more than three months past due, including $12,098 owed to its landlord.

The financial hemorrhaging comes as union founder Christian Smalls faces blowback for his pro-Hamas rhetoric and criticism from union workers who sued Smalls last year over his alleged “scheme to suppress democratic dissent” by blocking votes for union leadership.

Court Orders Philadelphia Theater to Screen Israeli Film That It Had Cancelled in the Face of Protests

10th April 2024

Read it.

In one of the more dizzying episodes of controversy surrounding Jewish cultural events since the Israel-Hamas war, a court ordered a Philadelphia-area movie theater Tuesday to move forward with screening an Israeli film less than a day after the theater’s Jewish director tried to call it off.

The injunction issued by Montgomery County Court instructed the Bryn Mawr Film Institute to move forward with its planned screening of “The Child Within Me,” a documentary about the Israeli musician Yehuda Poliker. The Israeli Film Festival of Philadelphia had reportedly filed a last-minute lawsuit against the theater, alleging breach of contract after it announced Monday night that it was no longer planning on screening the film owing to what its director called the “current climate.”

Local Jewish groups, enraged by the cancellation, had planned to stage a protest against the nonprofit theater Tuesday evening. The protest was still moving forward, organizers told Haaretz, in a show of support for the festival.

The More Powerful the Teachers Union, the Less the Children Learned

9th April 2024

Read it.

The Biden administration is on a hunt for systemic racism. Thus far it’s found systemic racism everywhere from the highway system to the military, but the one place it hasn’t looked is among the ranks of the teachers unions who provide much of its cash and its election foot soldiers.

But new data reported by the New York Times shows that the pandemic school closures demanded by teachers unions were the single greatest act of systemic racism in 50 years.

During the pandemic, members of the corrupt teachers union machine demanded school closures to “save lives”. Unwilling to do their jobs, they instead marched around brandishing coffins at political protests while warning that if they had to go and teach, everyone would die.

LA ‘Mansion Tax’ Is Yet Another Democrat Debacle

9th April 2024

Read it.

In November 2022, Los Angeles voters approved a so-called ‘mansion tax,’ which slaps a 4% sales tax on properties sold for over $5 million, and 5.5% for those over $10 million.

The scheme (Measure ULA), put forward by Democrats, was projected to raise roughly $672 million in its first year, to be used for affordable housing.

Not only did the plan fall short by hundreds of millions of dollars (raising just $215 million), the measure caused residential building construction to plummet, raising housing prices even further, the Washington Examiner writes, noting that the tax doesn’t just apply to large homes in Bel Air, “but also gas stations, commercial real estate, condominiums, and apartment complexes.”

San Francisco’s Sticky Stolen-Goods Dilemma

8th April 2024

Politico.

Each day in San Francisco, vendors line busy city streets with a plethora of fully packaged items: shampoo, mouth wash, multi-vitamins, deodorant and laundry detergent.

Mayor London Breed calls it “Walgreens on the sidewalk” — a confluence of the city’s struggles with unchecked shoplifting, its fentanyl addiction crisis and a state law that has made it extremely difficult to get the vendors off the streets, even if they are selling stolen goods.

Breed is now pushing to change that law as widespread frustration with retail theft and the blatant sale of stolen merchandise threatens her reelection bid.

Swiss To Hold Referendum That Will Restrict Population to 10 Million Until 2050

7th April 2024

As in other European countries, mass migration to Switzerland has resulted in “housing shortages and rising rents, traffic jams on the roads, crowded trains and buses, falling standards of schools, increasing violence and crime, electricity shortages, income stagnating per capita, ever-higher health insurance premiums, indebted social services, and increased pressure on the beauty of the landscape and the preservation of nature,” according to the party.

The UDC previously warned that the country was being subsumed by mass migration, with new arrivals from Africa having welfare rates of 34 per cent.

Around two-thirds of prison inmates in Switzerland are foreign nationals, with Algerians representing the highest proportion.

Oregon: Where Libertarianism Goes to Die

6th April 2024

Read it.

On April 1st, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek signed a bill into law that ended her state’s more than three-year-long experiment with legalization of so-called hard drugs. The choice of day notwithstanding, her decision to sign the bill that reintroduced criminal penalties for the use of those drugs was no joke. It was a badly needed end to a reckless experiment in childish libertarianism with humans as guinea pigs.

Fox News referred to Governor Kotek’s decision as a “U-turn on a short-lived liberal policy,” which is a fair description insofar as the policy move is concerned. However, the big losers here are the libertarians who wanted legalization in the first place. As far as they are concerned, the Oregon reversal raises an existential question for their very ideology.

As we will see in a moment, libertarians who celebrated the Beaver State’s legalization when it was implemented are now strikingly silent. To the extent that they do offer comments, they only reinforce the impression that the Oregon reversal has the potential to become the death knell of American libertarianism.

Libertarianism is a political philosophy for solipsists. They use the term ‘statist’ where proglodytes use the term ‘racist’ but the mindset is much the same.

Combating “Hate”: The Trojan Horse For Precrime

6th April 2024

Read it.

Philip K. Dick’s 1956 novella The Minority Report created “precrime,” the clairvoyant foreknowledge of criminal activity as forecast by mutant “precogs.” The book was a dystopian nightmare, but a 2015 Fox television series transforms the story into one in which a precog works with a cop and shows that data is actually effective at predicting future crime.

Canada is trying to enact a precrime law along the lines of the 2015 show, but it is being panned about as much as the television series. Ottawa’s online harms bill includes a provision to impose house arrest on someone who is feared to commit a hate crime in the future.

Reversible? Don’t Count On It

6th April 2024

Read it.

The “trans” industry’s assault on America’s youth includes persuading kids that they “really” are a boy rather than a girl, or vice versa. Sex change operations don’t come immediately; rather, the preferred sequence begins with puberty-blocking drugs. The rationale is that the effects of these drugs are reversible, so they merely buy time to allow the kid to sort out his or her “gender.”

But are the effects of puberty-blocking drugs actually reversible? Will the boy or girl be magically restored to his or her original self, after a few years in sexual limbo? Many have seen this as a dubious claim, and a number of countries have now banned the administration of puberty blockers along with banning sex change operations on minors. The U.S. is an outlier in our apparent enthusiasm for the “trans” regime.

Consider the Tradthot

5th April 2024

Read it.

personality called Matt Forney popularized the term, or depending on your outlook, slur, “tradthot.” According to Forney, a “tradthot” (a portmanteau of “tradwife” and “thot”) was a woman who entered the alt-right pretending to believe in traditional gender roles but, in reality, wanted to exploit a male-dominated audience by catering to their fantasies.

‘Thot’ is an acronym for ‘that hoe over there’. It usually refers to women who trade sex for money, not officially as a ‘working girl’ but unofficially as a species of gold-digger.

Forney, although not well-known for his charitable views about women at the time — he’s since repented, naturally — may have been onto something. While his original article unfairly characterized the specific women he offered as examples, all of whom turned out to be genuinely committed to the values they espoused, what he described ended up reflecting a real phenomenon.

In the years that followed, the “tradthot” — the Traditional Woman who created content seemingly for everyone except other women — became a thriving and lucrative genre of internet personality.

Go to YouTube and search for ‘Steven Crowder’ to watch a tradthot in action.

Birx as the COVID Villain

5th April 2024

The New Neo.

This is an interesting documentary that makes the point that it was Dr. Deborah Birx rather than Fauci who set a great many of the COVID policies that hurt the nation. It also portrays Trump as a victim of Birx, helpless to effectively send a counter-message.

I see it as somewhat different: Birx was instrumental in the lockdown chain reaction, but so were many other players including Fauci and in particular many state governors (especially in blue states). Social media and the press were a big part of it, too, censoring and often ridiculing those who saw it differently. And although Trump tried to counter that, it was a relatively weak effort and not very successful – although granted, he wasn’t a health expert and was relying on those who supposedly were.

Toronto Woman Takes Novel Approach to Dating by Stamping Hands at Bars: ‘You’re Cute, You Should Hit Me Up’

5th April 2024

A woman has decided to kick her dating efforts up a notch by making custom “stamps” to use to her advantage.

Michelle Arshad, 24, is from Toronto — and is apparently fed up with dating and looking for an eligible man.

Arshad said she works in finance and can tend to be introverted — but wanted to make more of an effort to find “Mr. Right,” she told SWNS, the British news service.

I can think of a number of terms to use for this, but ‘dating’ isn’t one of them.

Dawn of a Brighter Day?

4th April 2024

Power Line.

When I was growing up, most families I knew had four children. More, if they were Catholics. That is one of the fundamental ways in which our society has changed: today, people generally have fewer children. And now, if you show me a family with four children, I will lay heavy odds that they are Republicans.

In the New York Post, Glenn Reynolds writes about the fact that the world needs more babies. Beginning in the 1960s, fueled in part by the prophecies of Paul Ehrlich, an entomologist who had an almost unbroken record of being wrong about everything, fears grew of a population explosion. Governments tried to reduce fertility, but in the West, social trends no doubt contributed more to the ensuing baby bust.

Today, most countries outside of Africa face an uncertain future due to a lack of fertility.

It’s not a lack of fertility–people can still have as many kids as they want to. The problem is that far fewer want to. Children used to be an economic benefit, but now they are merely an expense, an expense that increasingly only the relatively rich can afford.

‘HR is not your friend’: Why Frustrated Workers Are Hiring Reps of Their Own

3rd April 2024

The Guardian.

NK Beale knew something was wrong when her boss started sending her listings for other job openings.

“My manager was advising me to put in my notice,” said Beale, who is 40 and lives in Washington DC. “It was kind of weird, because we had a pretty good relationship, and I felt as though he was someone I could trust.”

There had been a shift in leadership at her tech company during a tumultuous time in the industry, with mass layoffs at Google, Amazon and Microsoft. Beale wondered if maybe her boss had encouraged her to put in her notice before they had a chance to officially lay her off so the company wouldn’t have to pay severance. The stress of it all started to affect her sleep and wellbeing.

When it got to be too much, Beale’s partner suggested that she speak to an old colleague named Cierra Gross, who founded an independent human resources consulting firm called Caged Bird HR.

The Internet Of Reality

3rd April 2024

ZMan takes a look at the shit-show.

In the early days of the internet, the public places were mostly populated by people who assumed wide open was the natural order. As opposed to the real world with its silos and private spaces, the internet would be wide open. Everyone could go into this new public square and say and hear what they liked. That is why the first public forums were wide open and comprehensive. The idea was that you had one big forum, and everyone could pile in and have their say.

It did not take long for that to fail. The early forums quickly splintered as factions that would develop and soon the forums were a riot of antagonistic posting. This was long before the smart people made it easy for the progressive kooks to get online, but even in a world of smart, tech savvy people, factionalism was an issue. Bulletin boards then UseNet and then message boards followed this pattern. They started centralized and open and soon balkanized into private platforms.

Once the internet was made accessible to the midwit progressive, this pattern became more toxic and nastier. Instead of college football forums unable to maintain civility amongst rival fans, it was the tone police and moral scolds creating dissention and demanding their rivals be censored. They worked to gain control of the platforms and then set about driving off their bogeymen. This led to alternative forums for the people who had been purged from the main platforms.

Rationalizations Don’t Have to Make Sense

3rd April 2024

Read it.

President Obama often said that he was confident in the success of his leftist policies because modern progressives “…are on the right side of history”.  I always thought that was just a clever way to acknowledge the obvious flaws in his thinking, while convincing people to do as he says anyway:  “Yeah, I know this goes against your ethics, patriotism, experience, religion, and logic.  But all those things are temporary.  Once we change all those things to something else, then believe me, you’ll wish you had just agreed with us initially.”

The concept that there is a ‘right side of history’, and that they are on that side, is the essence of the creed of progressivism. It stems from Hegel (as lifted and polished up by Marx) that there is an inevitable arc to history and that you all had better get on board the train if you don’t want to be left by the side of the tracks.

UCLA Med School Requires Students to Attend Lecture Where Speaker Demands Prayer for ‘Mama Earth,’ Leads Chants of ‘Free Palestine.’

2nd April 2024

Read it.

In a mandatory course on “structural racism” for first-year medical students at the University of California Los Angeles, a guest speaker who has praised Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel led students in chants of “Free, Free Palestine” and demanded that they bow down to “mama earth,” according to students in the class and audio obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Lisa “Tiny” Gray-Garcia, who has referred to the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks as “justice,” began the March 27 class by leading students in what she described as a “non-secular prayer” to “the ancestors,” instructing everyone to get on their knees and touch the floor—”mama earth,” as she described it—with their fists.

At least half of the assembled students complied, two students said. Gray-Garcia, a local activist who had been invited to speak about “Housing (In)Justice,” proceeded to thank native tribes for preserving “what the settlers call L.A.,” according to audio obtained by the Free Beacon, and to remind students of the city’s “herstory.”

Bradford Pear Trees Are Banned in a Few States. More Are Looking to Replace, Eradicate Them.

2nd April 2024

USA Today.

The Bradford pear tree, with its fluffy white early-spring blossoms, is a looker. Even the tree’s putrid aroma emitted at full-bloom hasn’t kept it from becoming a go-to ornamental option for developers and landscapers for decades.

But the tree is now planted smack in the dab of a growing problem across the U.S.: It’s contributing to the spread of related invasive trees that are taking over some urban green spaces and pastureland and encroaching on forests.

“It’s really easy to just drive down the road and see how much it is spreading,” Lori Chamberlin, forest health program manager for the Virginia Department of Forestry, told USA TODAY. “It really does well along disturbed areas so along roadsides, along fields and along forest edges. In some cases we are seeing it actually invade forests. It’s displacing native tree species and preventing native trees from growing.”

There Is No Mr. Rochester

2nd April 2024

The American Mind.

The internet has a lot to say about whom we should marry. From memes about the ideal woman to viral posts about how much money a man should spend on a first date and pseudo-scientific lectures about why women break up with their boyfriends, we are inundated with pronouncements about how to find (or be) the perfect mate. While it would be easy to dismiss all this as the shallow-minded mishigas of the very young, that misses the point: everyone is desperate for love, but no one seems able to find it.

The young want to be loved the way that Mr. Rochester loves Jane in Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre. It’s my favorite love story, and I’ve been rereading it lately. Every time I get to the proposal scene—that moment where Rochester tells Jane, “You—you strange, you almost unearthly thing!—I love as my own flesh,”—I feel an almost unbearable yearning. Happily married and settled as I am, I feel a heart-cracking ache that is both exquisite and devastating.

But the problem is, no one can see and know and love us the way Rochester loves Jane. Because Rochester is Jane. He’s a creation of the same mind that created her. This is true for any great fictional love story—Pride and Prejudice, Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet, take your pick. We look at these lovers and think, “Yes! That! That is what I want!” And then we look at our actual lover—or some potential lover—and think, “Why can’t you be that?”

Abigail Shrier’s ‘Bad Therapy’ Exposes How Therapeutic Culture Harms Children

2nd April 2024

Read it.

Preventive mental health therapy for children may be doing more harm than good—and there’s research to prove it, author Abigail Shrier suggests in her new book “Bad Therapy.”

“What you might not know is that the stuff that travels under the headline ‘mental health’ is really harmful for kids,” she said at a recent book-signing event hosted by the Lincoln Club at Newport Beach. “I’m telling you that according to the best psychological research available, it’s exactly what you would want to do if you wanted to break kids down.”

In “Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren’t Growing Up,” which hit The New York Times’ best seller list, Ms. Shrier investigates the mental health industry and its negative impact on children, and concludes that when it comes to preventive therapy—especially for children—more is not always better.

Judging Adeel Mangi

2nd April 2024

Washington Free Beacon.

To hear the Biden White House and their allies tell it, Third Circuit judicial nominee Adeel Mangi—whose nomination is all but dead following three Democratic defections—is the victim of a vicious right-wing smear campaign.

White House chief of staff Jeff Zients charged that “some Senate Republicans and their extreme allies are relentlessly smearing Adeel Mangi with baseless accusations.” Mangi, Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J.) told the Senate chamber on the verge of tears, has been “trashed and smeared and maligned.” And in the Atlantic, Mangi’s law colleague, Gregory L. Diskant, recently seen filing an amicus brief to the Supreme Court pressing the justices to toss former president Donald Trump off the ballot, writes that Mangi faces “opposition grounded in hate.”

Sounds bad.

Investigation Links Russian Hit Squad to US Officials’ ‘Havana Syndrome’

2nd April 2024

A Russian intelligence unit that specializes in assassinations may be behind “Havana syndrome,” a mysterious condition that afflicted U.S. diplomats, according to a report.

A joint investigation by CBS’s 60 Minutes, along with Der Spiegel and The Insider, revealed links between Russia’s GRU Unit 29155 and suspected attacks on U.S. government officials both in the United States and abroad.

Symptoms of Havana syndrome—which the U.S. government terms “anomalous health incidents,” or AHI— include sudden headaches, vertigo, ringing in the ears, nausea, and in some cases blindness or hearing loss. The syndrome was named after U.S. officials in the Cuban capital first reported experiencing these symptoms in late 2016.

‘No Stopping Until Liberation’: MIT Faculty Member Urges Followers to Shut Down Israeli Company in Cambridge

A Massachusetts Institute of Technology faculty member who last month went on an anti-Semitic tirade—in which he called House Education and the Workforce Committee chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R., N.C.) a “treasonous Zionist tool” and referred to Israelis as “parasites”—is now urging his followers to shut down an Israeli company in Cambridge, saying, “No stoping [sic] until liberation.”

Afif Aqrabawi, a postdoctoral associate working in MIT’s Tonegawa neuroscience lab, encouraged his Twitter followers to shut down an Israeli company located in Cambridge, Mass. The MIT faculty member was responding to a Twitter follower’s suggestion to shut down a Raytheon facility in Bedford, Mass., to which he responded, “Elbit in Cambridge as well. No stoping [sic] until liberation.”

The call to action followed pictures Aqrabawi posted of a pro-Palestinian protest in Boston that blocked traffic Saturday evening.

JK Rowling Could Be Imprisoned for “Misgendering” Trans People Under New Law

1st April 2024

Read it.

Author JK Rowling could be prosecuted for “misgendering” trans people under Scotland’s odious new hate crime law that comes into force today, an SNP minister has admitted.

Senior police officers are expecting a deluge of complaints over online posts after the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 created a new crime of “stirring up hatred” relating to age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or being intersex.

A person could now be imprisoned for up to seven years if they engage in “insulting” behaviour towards ‘protected’ groups, and the prosecution only needs to prove that the hatred was “likely” rather than “intended”.

More Inflation, More Copper Theft

1st April 2024

Read it.

When unemployment and inflation cause skyrocketing incentives for thieves to steal industrial metals like copper, criminals rush for some of the biggest sources: critical infrastructure. That includes cell towers, water pipes, street lights, and rail lines. These copper heists threaten transportation, communication, municipal services, urban safety, and other essentials of modern life.

The chaos they can cause can cost lives, too — for example, copper heists from railways can cause warning lights, intersection gates, and turnouts that divert trains to other tracks to go offline.

Extinction Rebellion Interrupts Easter Mass Because Nothing Is Beneath Them

31st March 2024

Read it.

Three climate demonstrators arrested this evening after interrupting Easter services at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with a banner reading, “Silence = Death.”

As they were shoved out, one yelled out, “Free Palestine!”

If they had so interrupted a prayer service at a mosque, the congregation would have beaten them to death before the police could arrive.

Christians … not so much.

The Elite vs. America

30th March 2024

Read it.

On Thursday, March 28th, Donald Trump attended the wake of a New York police officer who had been killed in the line of duty. That same day, Democrat President Joe Biden was joined by two former Democrat presidents, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, at a fundraiser where attendees had to pony up $500,000 to get in the door.

The stark difference between the two events illustrates with painful clarity the divide that has gradually emerged in American society over the past 30 years. It is a divide between an increasingly arrogant elite and the American people they look down their noses at with contempt in their eyes.

Lawfare Against John Eastman

30th March 2024

The American Mind.

Dr. John Eastman is a patriot, a constitutional scholar, a lawyer, a husband, and a father. He is our friend, colleague, and fellow board member of the Claremont Institute, who has spent his life defending the principles upon which this great nation was founded. After a ten week travesty of a trial, a California Bar Court judge, seeking to criminalize disagreements in constitutional interpretation, recommended that John should lose his license to practice law in California.

The term “lawfare” has become part of the American vernacular in the past few years. It means the manipulation and corruption of the legal system to gain political advantage and attack and destroy one’s political opponents. The most famous example of lawfare is, of course, the shocking abuse of the U.S. Department of Justice, the Attorney General’s office in the state of New York, and the District Attorney’s office in Fulton County Georgia in an attempt to destroy the current Republican candidate for the presidency, Donald J. Trump. But the assault on Trump is just the most widely publicized example of this evil practice, which is destroying the rule of law in America.

Anyone who dares to oppose the reigning progressive regime, at any level and in any way, is a potential target of this lawfare. Especially targeted are those who dared to raise any question about the legality of the 2020 election. Prominent among these is John Eastman.
